creativity in cooking - Mum's Hungarian recipes (and other favourites)

Image
I had  the idea  to post my mum's recipes here on the blog - a record that is not lost of recipes i  wrote down in my 20s when i learned to cook each dish. A record to pass on to friends and family.  My sister and i took turns, under mum's guidance, to learn and cook each weekend. Dad always said 'not enough salt'.      You can  find them ALL here  - a list of individual dishes linked to the full recipe for each.  A single place to find them all .  The list will be regularly updated - keep an eye out and do let me know if you try any and what you think. and always, when cooking, there is a bag of goodies for #snowcone.

FOUNDart series created 18 years ago

Image
Well that took me back - updating my sites I came across the one i created 18 years ago.  The site is called FOUNDart series. The idea and thoughts as it evolved into different travel experiences. and it goes like this.  the first post titled 'the idea - 2007 Foundart Switzerland'  and says : i am travelling to Switzerland in August to spend a month with my daughter and her partner who live there and my initial idea of 'doing' art clicked finally this weekend ... i had been thinking for a while i would like to make a 'found art' series where i take small bits of art that look like finished pieces - small as in business card size - and have my website details on the back that tells the story of the 'found art' series and then to leave one at places along the way on my trip to switzerland and other places - so create and take 30 pieces and 'lose' one a day telling the story on the website. Perhaps even contact from the founder telling me of thei...

Remembering today 26th June

Bela Kacso  Born 26 June1936-2003 (21March) My Dad would be 87 years of age today and i know he would have loved Tasmania. I miss him. It is difficult to look back because he is no longer around and there are so many forgotten memories that re-surface when looking through old documents and letters exchanged during the days of snail mail and faxes! He was always immensely supportive of each of us whilst always insisting on kindness and respect for my mother, no matter what. In the mid-90's he supported my 'want' to do art and design and purchased my first computer. When i suggested a cheap model to begin with he said 'now why would i buy my daughter a bicycle without wheels?' and sent me off to 'research' the best type of computer (with programs) i may need so i could do digital art and design. I came back with the top 3 upon which he handed me a cheque with a smile and said 'no need to tell mum' .... Once upon a time, he wrote (in part) '...

from TASMANIA to TOKYO

Image
in this time of looking back in order to move forward in my daily doings in the studio i found this altered book that i created during travels from Tasmania to Tokyo to catch up with family. A wonderful trip - so lovely to spend time with family filled with new sights, sounds and smells This is an altered book ... a 1963 (abridged) copy of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer". I had a great time re-reading this book whilst altering it during my time in Tokyo. And how wonderful to explore all the sights and find new places to see art, gardens and fish ! I am a quiet fan of Koi and goldfish. I attended galleries in small alleys, big exhibitions in magnificent buildings, found sculptures and outdoor happenings, an antique shop and great food. Not so great coffee except my daughter had an excellent coffee machine at home so i could start the day filled with vigour. In this altered book pages include collage, additional new 'pages' that fold out, windows, mark making, fou...
