Christmas Ideas - support local artists

With Christmas just a few weeks away, consider supporting a local artist and gift one-of-a-kind artworks to a friend, family member or yourself.

I have been working on my site and various blogs this year, with artworks going up recently, so this site is under construction (continually).

A few artworks are up on blackfisharts tasmania site -  there are paintings across media such as acrylic, oil, pastel featuring abstracts, pears and landscape.

and prints, most being one of a kind monoprints or digital. 

Textiles are new to the site - years of slow stitching at night culminate in wall hangings such as these. 

The section Collage includes the textiles due to the way they are worked - a few analogue collages are loaded on the site.

The Bridge Gallery in Burnie is a temporary space for the Art Gallery while construction of the Arts Centre is underway.  We travelled to Burnie to pick up the  Oistre book  which was a finalist in the Burnie Print Prize 2025 , and encountered a splendid, awe-inspiring exhibition. There are 21, i think, artist books where each artist responds to each Afghan womans experience of living in Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover in 2021. i have posted a few images i took on our visit (below).  The images are not 'professional' but give me a sense of the presentation and ideas that i enjoyed immensely. Workshop1 - create 2 sketchbooks 2 forms 2 styles

Mum's Tarot Cards

I have a set of mum's tarot cards which i dont use but i like the creativity of the imagery and what they may mean. It's not a full set and they are newer than the ones i remember from my childhood which i think came from my Granny in Hungary. I wish i had those ! This set mum gave to me many many years ago - i think she thought I might play with the gift of reading but my left brain always took over. In recent times during de-stashing whirlwinds I found them and this week decided to do something with them. I created a A book of tarot cards that turned out nicely.
